Overview of the Sessions in Deeper Walk’s “Introduction to Freedom and Maturity”

Heart-Focused Discipleship- People don’t always practice what they profess, but they always practice what they really believe. Heart-focused discipleship helps people deal with their emotional baggage. In this session, Dr. Marcus Warner introduces the ABC’s of emotions and how wounds, lies, and vows, lead to strongholds in a person’s life.

Overcoming the Flesh -Christians often struggle with understanding the difference between living in the Spirit and living in the flesh. This two-part session explains several keys to understanding and overcoming the flesh and what it looks like to live in the Spirit.

Building a Biblical Worldview -This session explains how vital your worldview is to the way you interpret life’s experience and where you look for solutions to your problems.

Understanding Your Identity in Christ -Every believer needs to learn the importance of their identity in Christ. Building on the worldview teaching of the prior session, this session explains the significance of both the believer’s identity and authority.

Using Your Authority in Christ – Believers need to understand how to bind demons, loose fellow believers from bondage and evict demons when necessary.  This session explains the fundamentals of using the authority that is given to every believer.

Tearing Down Strongholds -This session teaches the fundamentals of spiritual warfare and lays the foundation for using Neil T. Anderson’s Steps to Freedom in Christ. It will cover the biblical foundations for understanding legal ground and what demons can and cannot do in the life of the believer.

Overcoming Ancestral Sin -An important, but often neglected issue in finding spiritual freedom is the role of ancestral sin. We will take a biblical and practical look at this problem and offer a clear path for breaking the strongholds created by generational sin.

Dealing with Demonization – The purpose of this session is to explain demonization and the basic principles involved in confronting evil spirits when this becomes necessary.

Understanding the Occult – Christians need to be able to exercise discernment with regard to the occult so they can recognize it when they see it.  This session will explore key elements of the occult with a view toward helping Christians recognize and resist it.

The Freedom of Forgiveness -What is forgiveness and what is it not? This session offers biblical insight into the power of forgiveness and practical advice on how to lead someone through the processof forgiving.

Healing of Memories – Painful memories often contain powerful lies that keep people in bondage.  This session will explore a simple approach to opening these memories to Christ’s healing presence.

Pride and Rebellion – Christians often find themselve

s experiencing a hidden rift with God rooted in the pride and rebellion that keep them from trusting Him fully. This session introduces key issues involved in identifying and overcoming these enemies of a victorious walk with God.

Repentance and Soul-Ties – Habitual sins often keep people stuck in a cycle of sin-confess, sin-confess, sin-confess, sin-give up. This session explains the elements of genuine repentance and how to break soul-ties with those who have been partners in sin.

Learning to Help Others – A presentation regarding important information about the actual process of walking someone through Neil T. Anderson’s Steps to Freedom in Christ.

Presentation AbstractRick Chamiec-Case, NACSW Executive Director

For the workshop portion of this meeting, I will be presenting on “Ethical Integration of Christian Faith and Social Work Practice: Pursuing Faithfulness and Professional Integrity.”
This presentation will illustrate a wide variety of ways social workers integrate their faith and social work practice, and how these different approaches to integration contribute to Christian social workers’ understanding of both their social work and their faith.
Ethical Issues Explored
In addition, this session will explore a range of ethical issues related to integration including the importance of social workers:
a) understanding their own religious beliefs and values (and how they influence their work) in order to be able to work competently and ethically with persons who have identified religion or spirituality as important in their lives
b) understanding how to assess and address clients’ spiritual and religious issues and concerns while maintaining a sensitivity to the issues of unequal power and vulnerability that are an inevitable part of client relationships
c) understanding the context of particular work environments (for example, working in a public agency versus working for a congregation or faith-based organization) as it relates to addressing clients’ spiritual and religious issues, sharing one’s own faith, etc.

Spread the Word
Please feel free to forward this email to any friends or colleagues in social work/services that you think might be interested in joining us (whether a member of NACSW or not). If you have any questions about this meeting, don’t hesitate to email me. I hope you and many of your colleagues will be able to join us on June 3rd!
