How to Change Lives Mini-Conference

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Bob Kellemen, Ph.D., LCPC

Bob is a nationally-known speaker, author, consultant, educator, pastor, and counselor. He’s the author of Soul Physicians, Spiritual Friends, Beyond the Suffering, Sacred Friendships, and God’s Healing for Life’s Losses. He has equipped thousands of lay people, pastors, and counselors as Chairman of the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and Discipleship Department (Capital Bible Seminary), as Director of the Biblical Counseling and Spiritual Formation Network, and as Founder/CEO of RPM Ministries.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In this in-service, you will learn how to use God’s Word to develop a Christ-centered, comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally-informed biblical model of counseling that truly values the sufficiency, supremacy, authority, profundity, and relevancy of Scripture to change lives with Christ’s changeless truth. Upon successful completion of this in-service, you will be able to:

(1) Find God’s Answers to Life’s Seven Ultimate Questions: Learn how to relate Christ’s changeless truth to our changing times.

(2) Understand People Biblically: Discover how God designed us to live, love, and relate—who are we?

(3) Diagnose Problems Scripturally: Uncover why we do the things we do—what went wrong?

(4) Prescribe God’s Solutions Effectively: Apply Christ’s answers for our daily life issues—how do people change?

MOVING INTO ACTION: Collaboration with the clergy from the community follows lunch with a panel moderated by Rev. Steve Jones, Central District Superintendent of the Missionary Church.  The purpose is three-fold:

(1) to emphasize the importance of integrating truth and love,

(2) familiarizing clergy about the Christian counseling services available in the community, and

(3) to clarify what clergy seek for their congregants when they refer to counselors.
