Healing Through the Language of Symbols
Presented by: Claudia Davis, MSW, LCSW
The language of symbols, or what Carl Jung called “archetypes”, provides a creative alternative to the traditional talk therapy setting, The therapist offers small items such as shells, rocks, crosses, crowns or other toys/figures to a client. These symbols can open up a powerful visual dimension beyond words, providing the client a new language to describe his/her relationships or struggles.
This presentation will help you understand the basic concepts of using symbols with clients (and yourself) and their connection to healing, insight and transformation. A demonstration using symbols and miniatures for storytelling, genograms and sandtray will be given.
The meeting will be held at St. Joseph Hospital in the Assembly Room on the ground floor near the cafeteria. (Note the room change.) Use the valet service for free (allow a few minutes extra time) or park in the garage (cost is $1-2). Breakfast is available for purchase in the cafeteria – just down the hall from the meeting.
